South Wales Cricket Premier Division One Ammanford (219-6) beat Port Talbot Town (196) by 23 runs (Reduced to 44 overs due to rain) Ammanford seconds provided the antidote to the miserable form of the firsts by maintaining their winning momentum with victory over visiting Port Talbot at the Park on Saturday.

Ammanford lost the toss and were put in to bat.

Skipper Heddwyn Jones (34) continued his fine form with the bat, and the middle order of Huw Jenkins (58), Rhys-Huw Davies (55) and Huw Evans (33) produced a fine batting display to enable Ammanford to reach 219 for six in a match reduced by rain to 44 overs.

Several of the Port Talbot batsmen were able to get themselves into double figures but accurate bowling from the home team ensured the consistent tumble of wickets.

Jones picked up a couple, as did Gareth Thomas and Rhys-Huw Davies.

Port Talbot were all out for 196.

Ammanford remain in second place just four points behind leaders Pontarddulais.
