South Wales Cricket Premier League Seconds Swansea (214-8) lost to Ammanford (215-2) by eight wickets Ammanford continued their superb league form with an armchair ride eight-wicket victory over Swansea at St Helen’s on Saturday.
Swansea showed optimistic confidence in their batting as they won the toss and decided to take first knock.
Ammanford bowlers Gareth Thomas (4-44) and Matthew Warnes (3-43) made steady progress through their ranks, however, and the home team reached 214 for eight in their 50 overs.
Ammanford’s response got off to a wonderful start in the shape of a century opening stand between Rhys Culley and skipper Hedd Wyn Jones.
When Jones was out for 44, George Harvey took up the gauntlet and stayed with Culley to knock off the target with more than ten overs to spare. Harvey was not out on 53 whilst Culley composed a faultless unbeaten century.
Ammanford with five wins under their belts are only seven points behind the leaders in fourth place.
