South Wales Cricket League SWCA Thomas Carroll Insurance 2nd XI Division Four Llandeilo 2nds (37-1) beat Llandarcy 2nds (35) by nine wickets A below-par Llandarcy seconds offered little resistance against a steadily improving Llandeilo at Cae William on Saturday.
Opting to bat first the away team failed to establish any rhythm, and were unable to deal with the rapid delivery and accuracy of Llandeilo’s bowlers. Skipper Max Munday led by example and his effective use of seam bowling on a turning wicket allowed him to claim four wickets in quick succession. The remaining six wickets were shared equally between Steffan Roberts and all-rounder Sajan Muthanna. The end of the Llandarcy innings came after only 13 overs, and with such a low total of 35 runs to chase, the outcome of the match seemed inevitable. Despite the loss of one wicket, Llandeilo overtook the Llandarcy total in just 16 overs, with Cai Davies (13) and Oscar Davies (10) heading the leader board for the home side. After the game, Llandeilo skipper Max Munday was philosophical about the size of the winning margin.
"Full credit has to be paid to Llandarcy for fighting to the end," said Munday.
"We have been in similar desperate situations and without a high total to defend it is often very difficult for the fielding team.”
