Gwalia Welsh Cup Cricket Ammanford (264-5) beat Carew (147) Ammanford's league woes remain in stark contrast to their Sunday cup form.
They put on a dominant display against Pembrokeshire league champions Carew to ease their way beyond the last 16 of the Gwalia Welsh Cup.
Ammanford batted first and after the loss of an early wicket, Craig Maloney and Rhys Culley consolidated before the latter was out for 33.
At three wickets down the scoreboard needed a run-rate injection, and that was provided by captain Alun Evans, who smashed 102 in 54 balls. When he departed, Maloney continued in similar vein, being out in the last of the 40 overs for exactly 100, helping his side to a formidable 264 for five.
Carew batted gallantly but lost wickets at regular intervals to Matthew Roberts (4-16), Mathew Fisher (2-4) and Huw Jenkins (2-8), and were all out for 147.
Ammanford now entertain Swansea in the quarter final on Sunday, July 21.
