Llanelli and District Bowls
Cwmaman 74 Parc William 68
Cwmaman’s bowlers earned an unprecedented fifth successive victory in the Llanelli Bowls league against second-in-the-table Parc William at Cwmaman Park green.
In good conditions, with the green running true, Cwmaman led 55-48 after 15 ends and went on to win three rinks, claiming another 12 league points in the process.
Comeback of the day was on Rink Six where skip James Davies’ four, trailing 17-8, roared back to win 20-18 after dropping just a solitary shot in the last seven ends.
Byron Davies’ rink, up 17-9 at 15 ends, completed the job to win by four while Mike Jones’ quartet won by five after leading 19-8 at 15 ends.
Quite an achievement for a side that, in their opening Carruthers Shield matches, could not be sure they would have been able to field a full side to fulfil their league fixtures.
Rink scores for Cwmaman were:
Rink One: Norman Raeburn, Gareth Williams, John Sam Jones, Byron Davies(skip) 19, Parc William 15.
Rink Two: John Milbourne,Simon Hawker,Peter Jones,Mike Jones(skip) 21, Parc William 16.
