Gwaun cae Gurwen 93 Briton Ferry Combine 49
The Waun hosted Briton Ferry Combine who had beaten them just a few weeks earlier in the reverse fixture.
Due to the fact that Ammanford Town had an open date, the Waun were again able to call on their dual registered players., and it certainly made
a difference.
After five ends the Waun trailed by 17–15 due in the main to their Number Two rink being 1–7 shots down.
But that was as good as it got for the Combine and after ten ends the Waun led 37–25 with their Number Four rink leading 17– 1 when the tea- break was taken.
The interval proved of little help to the visitors as the Waun continued increasing their lead and were 62–40 after 15 ends.
The hosts finished the game clear 93–49 winner, enabling them to claim a full 12 points to the Combine’s two.
The victory contained a number of stunning performances, not least on Rink Two where the Waun overturned their early deficit to hold their nerve and run out 24–17 winners.
Waun’s Rink Three were all square after 20 ends but were unable to convert the last end when they dropped four shots.
Next week the Waun play away at Cymmer knowing that they are going to be short yet again.
