Division Three
Cwmamman United 6 Newport Civil Service 0
Two superb strikes, from man-of-the-match Liam Soroka and Craig Spring, put Cwmamman into a convincing 2-0 lead inside the first half.
Cwm continued to dominate throughout the opening period, but were unable to extend their lead before the break.
They continued to pile pressure on the visitors in the second half and their efforts were eventually rewarded when Soroka burst free inside the box only to be scythed down by a desperate Newport lunge.
Robert Shannon made no mistake from the penalty spot.
Five minutes later, United were awarded a second penalty and again Shannon made no mistake from 12 yards.
A superb flowing move followed soon after, and Shannon was at the end of it to leave the keeper no chance and claim his hat-trick.
Sixteen-year-old debutant Rhydian Jones added his name to the scoresheet when, despite finding himself outnumbered, he wriggled his way into space and fired home into the far corner.
With the result safe, the Grenig Park men were guilty of shunning chance after chance, notably Steven Hughes, whose effort from four yards rattled the crossbar.
Cwmamman travel to Cwmamman Institute on Saturday.
