Division Five West
Pantyffynnon 37 St Clears 19
Pantyfftynnon started life in Division Five West with a bonus bonus point win and plenty of exciting running rugby.
Panty’s first score came early on, fly-half John McWilliams ran the ball from his own try line feeding Lee Rees who took it up to halfway before returning the compliment for McWilliams to gallop in from 45metres.
The next three tries were scored by skipper Stu Sutherland, all from short-range charges.
The final try however was something else, McWilliams, who was the star man all game, sent a pinpoint cross-field kick all of 60metres into the hands of wing Emyr Hopkin who at full tilt sped home from 40 metres.
Panty did fall away in the last 15 minutes to allow the visitors two soft tries, but on the whole not a bad introduction to the new league although head coach Dyl Lloyd knows that bigger challenges lie ahead.
