Ynysmeudwy played host to visitors Giants Grave with the Athletic's defence proving far too strong for the visitors.
The fixture remained tight throughout however and remained goal-less until the 70th minute.
The visitors, sensing a vital away victory, pressed harder as they went in search of an elusive winner.
The Athletic soaked up the pressure and hit Grave on the break as Paul Sypliwtchak fired home after some fine passing from the hosts.
Athleitc deserved to claim the points have put on an excellent defensive showing to thwart the visitors, who fashioned a number of chances only to see Athletic's defence stand firm time and again.
Man of the match for the second week running was new recruit Huw Beynon.
The Athletic travel Resolven on Saturday (KO 2.30pm) Players meet at 12.45pm at Ynysmeudwy field.

Ynys’ first game of the season saw them travel to Ystradgynlais where they went down by the odd goal in five.
Both Athletic’s goals came from new boy James Cocks.
On Saturday they host Sunnybank (KO 2.30pm) Players to meet at 12.45pm at Ynysmeudwy field.
