GWAUN cae Gurwen Ladies’ Bowls are this week celebrating the success of two of their junior members.
Aliya Francis won the Under 16s’ county championship at her home ground a fortnight ago while last weekend saw 14-year-old Bethan Jones crowned Under 18s’ Welsh Champion.
The youngster saw off two current Welsh internationals to claim the title at Romilly Park, Barry.
Elsewhere, Cwmamman Bowls Club captain John Sam Jones has paid tribute to his players’ efforts during the season.
Jones thanked his side for their commitment following a difficult and uncertain start to the campaign, and showing a tremendous attitude over the season .
He also wished to thank GCG Bowls Club for loaning players when available and Amman United RFC for sponsoring Cwmamman Bowls Club and providing such great hospitality.
Meanwhile, bowls coaching sessions are due to begin on Saturday, September 28, from 9.45am to 11.30am at Manor Road, Ammanford, where a warm welcome will be given to all youngsters interested in taking up the sport.
