Division Two
Ammanford 0 Llandeilo 3
Llandeilo travelled to Ammanford on a miserable wet Wednesday evening with both clubs looking for their second win of the season in Division Two of the Carmarthenshire Football League.
Both teams created a number of early chances but it was Llandeilo who broke the deadlock after some good build-up and a solid finish from former Ammanford man Dafydd Thomas.
The hosts battled back and created a series of opportunities with much of their good play starting at the back with Rhodri Jones solid in the air throughout.
But things were not going Ammanford’s a way in the final third.
Meanwhile, Llandeilo kept the pressure on their hosts and earned a penalty, coolly dispatched by Finley Browning to ensure a 2-0 lead going into the interval.
The visitors started the second half where they left off, moving the ball well and dominating possession.
One crisp passing move saw Thomas one-on-one with the Ammanford keeper who gave away a second penalty in his efforts to halt Llandeilo’s progress.
Bu the shot-stopper made up for his error, pulling off a fantastic diving save to his left to deny the visitors.
But Llandeilo continued to search for a third to make the game safe and it duly arrived thanks to a 35-yeard screamer from left back Liam Owen-Smith which took the home keeper completely by surprise before nestling in the top corner.
Both sides continued to battle until the whistle, but the hosts new the game was beyond them.
The result sees Llandeilo move up to fourth while Ammanford slip to eighth.
