Division Six West

Llandybie 59 Llansawel 5

Llandybie welcomed Llansawel for their first home game of the season and pressured the visitors from the start.

From a forward drive, flanker Lyndon Davies dived over to start the scoring and the hosts increased their lead with a penalty by Tom Griffith.

Llansawel, with a bare 15, showed great commitment with some crunching tackles, but a good break by Griffith saw the ball moved on and No8 Rhydian Jones was on hand to score.

From a scrum Davies added another score.

Llansawel won good ball only for their centre to be tackled by Johnny Harries and, from a good clearance kick by Rhys Cann, the ball ran loose for winger Dafydd Nicholas to hack ahead and score.

Another forward drive put Jones in for his second to put the homesters 28-0 ahead at the break.

Llandybie started the second half with a flourish, Davies feeding Jones for his hat-trick.

But the visitors refused to lie down and a series of good forward surges saw flanker and ex Llandybie Youth player Meirion George diving in to score.

A brilliant cross field move involving the Llandybie backs gave a good try to full back Johnny Guns, converted by Ben Featherstone.

Then, from a five-metre scrum, Jones picked up and fed Griffith who put scrum half Luke Yelland in for a try.

Centre Huw Williams ran in another, converted by Featherstone before Daviescharged in for his hat-tick.

Winger Josh Cranfield burst free from his own half and threw three outrageous dummies but was hauled down yards short.
