Cwmbran thrower Peter Johns claimed the £1,000 top prize in the Cwmaman Darts Open at Clwb Godre’r Mynydd Du, Glanaman, with a 6-3 victory over Swansea’s Kevin Thomas.
The Fishermens’ Club attracted BDO and PDC circuit players from all over mid, west and east Wales as well as from across the border.
The losing semi-finalists were regular visitor Johnny Haines (Swindon) and Martin Thomas(Aberystwyth) while bowing out at the quarter-final stage were Mitch Butler (Montgomery & Radnor), Josh McCarthy (Swindon), Peter Woods (Rhondda) and local favourite Stuart Davies from Garnant.
The Highest Out prize went to Welsh International Michelle Webber for a fantastic 164 checkout. She also shared the Furthest Lady prize with another Welsh international Natalie Evans.
The Fewest Darts (12) prize was shared between Peter Johns, Kevin Thomas, Stuart Davies and Martin Thomas.
The organisers wish to thank everyone for their support and all the companies for supporting the event. Plans are already under way to organise next year’s event.
