Kidwelly Ladies 57 Penybanc Panthers 5

In lovely conditions, Penybanc Panthers made the trip to face unbeaten table toppers Kidwelly.

The fired up Panthers started really well and 30 minutes in, the score stood at 0-0 with No8 Sophie Mangano really put herself about in attack and defence in the early stages and proving to be a real handful for Kidwelly.

But the Panthers could only hold out for so long and the home team scored a fine try then added another two before half time.

The visitors Panthers pulled themselves back into the game through a brilliant try for centre Holly Roderick, skinning her opposite number on the way to the line.

The Panthers pack tackled bravely against their bigger opponents with Laura Powell, Lowri Chapman, Eleri Jones and Lucy Rouselle really getting stuck in a frantic first 40.

The second 40 saw Kidwelly really come in to the game with their experienced players starting to get on top of the young Banc team.

Panthers half-backs Catrin Rees and Brittony Price were outstanding all game with Price especially putting in a huge amount of tackles.

Wingers Leanne McBeth and Vicki Gibbons also tried hard but the home team were too strong.

With several games left, it looks like a mid table finish which, in their first year for most of them is a great achievement.

Next week they travel to Lampeter.
