Betws were again dragged into a forward battle and with the referee failing to play the advantage law they were unable to utilise the superior pace of their back division.
Cwmgwrach quickly demonstrated their intentions when they took the lead with the catch and drive tactic but Betws hit back immediately when centre Phil Saunders started a counter attack from inside his half, with wing Rhys Williams demonstrating his pace with a weaving 50 metre run to the line to score, with Saunders adding the conversion. Veteran second row Gwynfor Evans on emergency recall to the first team secured good possession in the lineouts but the visitors persisted in kicking away possession when in good positions during this period of play.
The homesters increased their lead from another short range lineout when Andrew Thomas was again driven over the line by his powerful pack for a 12-7 half time lead.
With the visitors complaining about hands in the ruck ironically it was their No8 Gavin Davies who paid the penalty with a yellow card and the resultant put Cwmgwrach 15-7 ahead.
The homesters quickly took advantage of the situation and scored again, but with influential hooker Andrew Thomas in the sin-bin for punching it was the visiting pack who took control. They replied quickly with the ball spread from the scrum for wing Rhys Williams to score his second.
Betws reduced the defecit further with a penalty, but were dealt a bitter blow by the referee when he again failed to play advantage with wing Mark Thomas clear to the line.
With man of the match Phil Saunders finding gaps in the tiring home defence the visitors were unlucky on several occasions.
However, with five minutes remaining Lee Tregonning put the homesters two scores clear with an opportunist drop-goal.
