Ammanford, who lost 3-2 away to Garw earlier in the season, knew they would have to be at their best to get anything out of this match with Garw top of the Division and having lost just one match.
They soon found the strength of the visitors when No10 Jodie Morris scored with a header from close range.
They continued to dictate terms and went 0-2 up with a breakaway move that saw No11 Tom Hooper score.
Ammanford, despite the advantage of a first-half wind, came through 0-2 down at the half-time whistle, although Garw hit a post just before the interval.
The second half saw Ammanford completely on top. But although they had a shot cleared off the line, the visiting keeper was seldom troubled by the Ammanford attack.
There was a bonus for the spectators of an outstanding refereeing display from the man in the middle Eddie King, who centred the match with his vast experience and authority.
Next Saturday Ammanford are home again to local new team West End.
l The Reserves played away to first division Newport YMCA in the Harris Printers Shield 2nd round.
They held the score 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes, but eventually went down 4-1 after extra time.
On Saturday, they are away to Morriston Town.
