DYNAMIC tennis-teen Francesca Lewis, of Llandybie, of Swansea Performance club and currently ranked number 1 in Wales at both under 16 and under 18 level, has enjoyed a favourable start to the summer outdoor season.
After recovering from an injury-strewn season on the winter indoor circuit, Francesca has already registered her ambition with a notable title win at the Bristol Junior Hardcourt Tournament and by winning her way through to the last sixteen of the main draw of the LTA Clay Court Championships at Queenswood school, London.
Earlier qualification success on the clay at a British Tour Tropicana event has put her in good stead to claw her way back up the UK rankings in preparation for next year's 2008 junior Commonwealth Games in India where tennis will feature for the first time.
Also, playing as number 1 seed for recently promoted Carmarthenshire and South Pembrokeshire ladies in UK National Premier League 1, the determined youngster is spearheading a concerted West Wales effort to break into mainstream British Ladies tennis.
