GRIFF Williams of Llandovery College won bronze in the Leon Paul North London Under 13 Championships in Camden over the weekend.
Some of the top British Under 13 Sabre fencers competed in a competition that is part of a UK-wide nine event series in 2007.
Williams - the Welsh U14 sabre champion - was the only Welsh fencer in the last 16 and defeated the current top ranking British fencer Waldo Ramsey in the "poule" stages at Camden. Unfortunately, young Williams lost in the semi-final against the London born fencer to deny him the opportunity to go for gold.
Williams still has to fence in six competitions over the next two months before he goes into an elite summer British training camp in Penzance.
