GYMNASTS from Carmarthen School of Gymnastics swept the board at the Welsh Preliminary Gymnastic Championships held in Cardiff on Sunday, April 29.
For the third year running, gymnasts from the Ammanford, Llandeilo, and Carmarthen dominated this competition - a testimony to their hard work and dedication, to the talent in Carmarthenshire, and to the support and time given by the parents and coaches.
There were gold medals for Liberty Pennington (Phase 1 Under 11 girls individual); Carys Jones (Phase 2 Under 11 Girls individual); Jac Perry (Phase 2 Under 11 Boys individual); Medi Stone (Phase 2 Under 14 Girls individual); Ieuan Davies (Phase 2 Under 14 boys individual); Emily Evans (Phase 2 Under 17 girls individual) and Jon Llewelyn (Phase 2 Under 17 boys individual).
Carmarthen A' Team Phase 1 Under 14 girls team (Zakia Howell, Brittany Coan, Lora Phillios, Kathryn Robinson) also picked up gold as did the Carmarthen A' Team Phase 2 Under 11 Boys team (Jac Perry, Luke Morgan, Teilo Stone); Carmarthen A' Team Phase 2 Under 14 boys team (Ieuan Davies, Ceiran Jones, Cai England); Carmarthen B' Team Phase 2 Under 14 girls team (Medi Stone, Angharad Powell, Jessica Williams, Alyssa Jones); Carmarthen A' Team Phase 2 Under 17 team (Emily Evans, Alana Evans, Tara Williams, Carys Thomas).
There were silver medals for Zakia Howell (Phase 1 under 14 girls individual); Abigail Davies (Phase 2 Under 11 girls individual); Luke Morgans (Phase 2 Under 11 boys individual); Angharad Powell (Phase 2 Under 11 girls individual); Ceiram Jones (Phase 2 Under 14 boys individual); Alana Evans (Phase 2 Under 17 girls individual); Emyr Jones (Phase 2 Under 17 boys individual); Carmarthen X' Team Phase 2 Under 11 girls team (Carys Jones, Abigail Davies, Jessica Drake, Rosie Plimmer).
There were bronze medals for Brittany Coan (Phase 1 Under 14 girls individual); Carmarthen D' Team Phase 1 Under 11 girls team (Liberty Pennington, Rowanne Hutchinson, Sinead Jones, Hannah Davies); Carmarthen A' team Phase 1 Under 11 boys team (Cody Jones, Aaron Thomas, Zabian Howell, Connor Braham); Carmarthen A' Team Phase 2 Under 14 girls team (Bethan Phillips, Alys Williams, Megan Locker, Enfys Jones).
Sharon Evans, the club's head coach said: I'm so proud of all the gymnasts, they have worked hard and deserve the results they achieved."
