THE men's section of the Amman Valley darts league held its finals and presentation evening at Tairgwaith club on Friday, April 13.
With Cross Hands Hotel winning the league and Pontarddulais CC runners up. The Captains Cup was won by Walford Williams of Blaenau RFC with Huw Jones, Brynaman RFC claiming the runner up spot after a play-off with Allan Parker of the Pick.
First final to be played was the sevens between Brynaman RFC and the Cross Hands Hotel who were to feature in all finals- Cross Hands took the deciding leg to win 4-3.
Sixes Cup again featured Cross Hands Hotel and the Pick with the Hotel again winning 2 legs to 1.
The last four finals featured only Brynaman RFC and Cross Hands Hotel. Cross Hands came out winners in the Fours final 2-1 and also picking up the threes. Brynaman RFC reclaimed some pride, winning the pairs three legs to one as father and son pairing Roger and Tim Hendra overpowered the Cross Hands pairing of Eric Burden and Wayne Evans.
The last final to be played was the singles featuring Steve Alker of the Cross Hands Hotel and Roger Hendra of Brynaman RFC. Steve took the title on double two to win in the decider of five legs with Roger narrowly missing the bullseye for a 135 out shot.
Highest out of the season went to Walford Williams, Blaenau RFC, with a 150. Emyr Jones, Brynaman RFC, and Steve Alker, Cross Hands Hotel also scooped awards, both having checked out in just 14.
Eric Burden, of Cross Hands, hit the most 180s during the season with nine after hitting another two on the night itself. Next best was Roger and Tim Hendra, of Brynaman RFC, with four apiece. Steve Alker, Cross Hands Hotel, hit three while Wayne Evans, Cross Hands Hotel, Arry Lewis, Pontarddulais CC; Emyr Jones, Brynaman RFC; Walford Williams, Blaenau RFC; Elliott Cloke, Pontarddulais CC; and Phil Rees, Tairgwaith Club; had two-a-piece.
