Graig Merthyr v Ammanford BC Ammanford travelled to premier side Graig Merthyr and came away losing by just 16 shots. Captain Dai Turvey was up against Wyn Mathews and lost by 13 shots. Skips Martin Rees and Brian Waters also lost, however, lead Martin Henry, second and new signing Dai J Davies, new chairman Dai (Post) Davies and skip Martin Jones beat the rink skipped by the competent Steve Thomas by seven shots. This display will have given town some confidence in the run up to the commencement of the league which starts at the beginning of June.

Ammanford BC v Parc y Dre Ammanford opened the season against Parc y Dre and observed a minute's silence to remember Hywel Jeremiah, who played for town for more than thirty years and was also chairman of the club for the last few years. Alan Wilcocks skipped the only winning rink against dangerous Parc y Dre.
