EX-YSGOL Tregib student Martyn Thomas has been selected in Wales' most competitive sevens squad yet.
The Dragons starlet is in a squad of 12 competing in the England and Scotland Sevens tournaments at Twickenham on Saturday.
The 20-year-old brother of Drovers hero Howard has already represented Wales in two short format tournaments and now looks set to gain even more experience.
His side has been drawn with England, Portugal and South Africa for the English leg of the tournament while France, Italy and Samoa await at Murrayfield.
Despite being pitted against specialists Samoa and a strong-looking England, coach Dai Rees is in positive mood. "We have a good chance of being competitive at both of these events. Our aim is to to reach the last eight at both, although the other home nations have also strengthened their squads for these tournaments.
"We have proved the value of Sevens rugby by moving up the IRB rankings and picking up a trophy at each event so far.
"Sevens has proved a vital development tool, acting as a stepping stone to regional rugby for the majority of players involved."
