AMMANFORD motorcyclist Ian Henshaw claimed points in all five of his races at the second round of the British Historic Racing championships at Oulton Park.

A misunderstanding over the starting lights during his first outing in the 250cc race saw Henshaw slip from pole position as several riders passed him on the first corner.

But by the end of the first two-and-a-half mile lap, the unstoppable Henshaw was back in front and, after four laps, came through to take the chequered flag fourteen seconds ahead of the second place finisher.

Henshaw's next race saw him take to his 350cc machine. For this race he was drawn in second place on the grid and up against some very serious opposition from the classic racing worl. He got away to a good start losing only one place throughout the race to come home in third for another podium after being beaten by two riders with more racing years experience between them than Henshaw age.

His next race was the 500cc specials race where he started from grid position three. He rode well to finish in the points in eighth position .

His next race was on his 250cc, but here he had drawn grid position twenty four leaving a lot of work to do.

Henshaw proved his mettle by passing half-a-dozen riders through the first corner. He continued to work his way through the opposition coming home in fourth place having passed twenty other riders by the finish.

Henshaw's next race came in event 14 - again on the 350cc. He started 24th on the grid, but stormed away to pass many other riders by the first corner.

Lap after lap he worked his way through the field coming over the line in a very creditable eighth place having passed 16 other riders on the way.

Henshaw was called for his final race of the day on the 500cc machine but after a long delay, the meeting was cancelled due to a serious accident involving several riders in the previous race.

Henshaw now leads the 250cc British historic racing championship with 55points. His nearest rival has 42.

He is also fifth in the 350cc championship with thirty-two points. The next round is at the British Superbike circuit at Croft near Middlesborough on June 16 and 17.
