YNYSTAWE may not be everybody's favourite setting for a cricket match with the nearby drone of M4 traffic.

It has certainly dropped down Ammanford's hotlist of venues after they were well and truly trounced there last Saturday.

Losing the toss, Ammanford were put in to bat, and within 12 overs had achieved the princely total of 15 runs for the loss of six wickets.

Ynystawe opening bowler Gareth Jones was in unplayable form.

His first six overs were all maidens, from which he took the wickets of Steffan Jenkins, Matthew Fisher, Gary Phillips and Huw Evans who was dismissed first ball.

Jones made full use of a helpful pitch with devastating use of the seam.

He finished with six for 13 from his 15 overs which included ten maidens.

Four of his victims were bowled, one lbw and the other caught behind.

He was ably supported by spinner Fletcher whose four overs snapped up three wickets for just four runs.

Ammanford's only resistance came from Rhydian Harris (12) and Gareth Grant (13).

Ammanford were dismissed for a truly miserable 53 from 32 overs.

Ynystawe took just 18 overs to knock off the paltry runs, Gareth Bishop with an unbeaten 35 suggesting that conditions were not quite so unsurmountable as the Ammanford batsmen had made out.

Tom Maynard took one wicket and there was a further run out before Ynystawe claimed an eight-wicket victory.

Ammanford's measly two points saw them plummeting down the table after a promising start to the season.

They will collectively need to press the erase button after this debacle in order to be ready for bottom-of-the-table Mumbles's visit to the Park next Saturday.
