The annual Ammanford 10K took place in the town this past weekend.

The race, held in optimal conditions on Sunday, July 14, attracted 214 participants who started from the town's recreation ground.

The testing course led them through Llandybie and Blaenau, then back through Aberlash to the finish line.

Dewi Griffiths from Swansea Harriers, bagged the win with a time of 30 minutes and 21 seconds.

Michael Roderick of Tri Hard Harriers, came second with a time of 33 minutes and 18 seconds, and Craig Merriman Foley, of Port Talbot Harriers, in third with 34 minutes 08 seconds.

The first local to cross the line was Henry Drake from Amman Valley Harriers, clocking a time of 36 minutes 04 seconds.

Sioned Howells of Swansea Harriers reigned as the leading female finishing in 37 minutes 12 seconds.

Other significant timings included runners from Swansea Harriers with Alan Davies coming first in the M70 class and Paul Llewellyn in the M60 class, Les Croupiers Running Club's Emyr Morgan came first in the M50 class, Melanie Graham of Builth Wells Running Club came first in the F55 class and Trots' Lon Morgan coming first in the F65 class.
