Ammanford AFC fell in the Carmarthenshire derby match against Carmarthen Town.
The hotly anticipated JD Cymru South league encounter took place under the floodlights on August 23 at Ammanford Recreation Ground.
This game marked the advent of a new era as Wyn Thomas stepped into his new role as first team manager, succeeding Gruff Harrison.
Before the game, Thomas had an impressive record, having played for Aberystwyth Town, Carmarthen Town and Haverfordwest.
Unfortunately, Thomas's tenure began on a sour note as Carmarthen Town raced to a 3-0 lead within the first 20 minutes.
Goals from Gavin Jones (four minutes), Noah Daley (nine minutes) and Tobias Jones (17 minutes) placed Ammanford firmly on the back foot.
The situation was further aggravated by the loss of Adam John.
However, his replacement, Adam Morgan, quickly reduced the deficit, scoring in the 22nd minute.
A glimmer of hope appeared when Callum Jones's header found the back of the net at 47 minutes.
Despite further chances in the second half, the match ended 3-2 in favour of Carmarthen.
The team from Ammanford journeyed to Gwent on August 26 to play Cwmbran Celtic FC.
Their next home league game will be against Penrhiwceiber on September 7.
