Cwmamman United played the spoilers as they brought West End's unbeaten league run to an end with a 3-2 victory.

The teams squared off at Pryderi Park, with Ryan Gibbons' brace and another from Taylor Smith proving enough for Cwm to see off the hosts, who hit the net twice themselves through Daryl Hughes and a deflected goal from Adam Griffiths.

Cwm were fast out the blocks, with Gibbons firing home within 45 seconds.

This left West End scrambling to keep up as Elliot Smith, Taylor Smith, and Ryan Cole came within striking distance multiple times for Cwm before Gibbons added another to his tally to double the lead despite the best efforts of West End goalkeeper Jonathan Harding.

Myles Perkins, Cam Williams, and Cole were responsible for these more incessant threats, but Cwm had to wait until the 45th minute for Taylor Smith to extend their lead to 3-0, capping off an impressive first half performance in style.

The second half saw a different game altogether with a string of injury-enforced substitutions for Cwm, which West End capitalised on to seize the offensive.

At the 60 minute mark Daryl Hughes managed to siphon a goal back with a neat backheel.

This sparked a series of attack full backs Evan Gibbs and Iestyn Evans worked tirelessly to nullify from wide, while Charlie Davies and James Gorman defended against a barrage of high crosses in the box.

Cwm goalkeeper Lewis Gibbs made a remarkable save when he deflected a powerful strike onto the bar, however he was soon left helpless when a free kick from Adam Griffiths took a deflection and found the back of the net in the 72nd minute.

In the final stretch of the match, West End searched frantically for an equaliser, but Cwm withstood a few goalmouth scrambles, holding their nerve to secure the win and a crucial three points on their travels.

Eager to maintain their winning streak, Cwmamman United now set their sights on their upcoming clash with Cwm Wanderers at Grenig Park on Saturday, September 7 at 2.30pm.
