Ammanford were narrowly defeated 3-2 by league leaders Cambrian United.
Despite creating numerous opportunities and Adam John scoring twice in the second half, two early goals for the home side and a long-range strike ultimately sealed Ammanford's fate.
The match took place on a brisk evening at the M&P Group 3G pitch, where both teams had early goals disallowed by the officials.
Cambrian United opened the scoring after just ten minutes with Thomas Hillman finding the net from close range after Ammanford's goalkeeper Luke Martin had initially saved the first attempt.
Ammanford responded positively, enjoying a spell of possession with Lewis Reed coming close after a defensive error.
Martin then made another save to deny Hillman a second goal.
As the half progressed, Ammanford found more success down the right flank, with Rhys Davies and Adam John both going close to equalising.
However, the first half ended without a goal for Ammanford, despite their pressure.
Much like the first half, Cambrian United struck early in the second half, with Jack Fox's volley from the edge of the area extending their lead.
Ammanford, however, continued to push forward, with a flurry of chances coming their way.
John and Reed both forced saves from Cambrian's goalkeeper Morgan Davies, while a close-range effort from Rhys Davies went wide.
With 20 minutes left, Ammanford finally got their reward.
Reed's header was saved by Morgan Davies, but the rebound fell to Adam John, who scored from three yards out.
However, Ammanford's joy was short-lived as the hosts restored their two-goal cushion just two minutes later.
Josh Allen's strike from distance evaded all players and settled in the bottom corner.
The home side then created two good chances to put the game beyond Ammanford's reach, with Cameron Keetch missing at the back post and another long-range effort hitting the post.
Ammanford continued to press in search of an equaliser, coming agonisingly close to scoring the sixth goal of the match when they struck the post deep into stoppage time.
However, the visitors were unable to find the net again, meaning they returned home from Tonypandy without any points, leaving Cambrian United to solidify their position at the top of the JD Cymru South table.
