Llandeilo Bowling Club celebrated a successful season with a dinner and awards ceremony.

The event took place at The Plough, Rhosmaen, and was attended by a large crowd, reflecting the club's increase in membership this year.

Gareth James, the club president, expressed gratitude to team captains Jamie Davies, Doug Davies, and Ena Williams for their leadership.

The men's team marked a notable achievement by securing promotion to the first division for the first time in more than 15 years.

The team also finished runners-up for the DJ Jones Cup in the Llanelli and District Men's League and saw Tommy Jackson emerge as runner-up in the Harold Williams Under 35 Singles Tournament.

The women’s team also had a rewarding season.

Lynda James, Deborah Mathews, and Yvonne Thomas were runners-up in the Carmarthenshire Triples, with Lynne James joining them to secure runners-up in the rinks.

Amy Dyer, competing for the first time at county level, was runner-up in the Under 25 competition.

Mr James acknowledged the hard work of the committee and volunteers and highlighted the improvements made to the club's green.

The evening featured entertainment from LBC member Richard Chodecki, who kept the crowd amused with jokes until the raffle.

The presentation of LBC competition prizes concluded the evening.

Alan Roberts won the president's prize, engraved whisky tumblers, and was named 2024 Club Person of the Year, in recognition of his outstanding contribution and countless hours of work for the club.

King Jones retained the Plough Cup and the Spar Cup and on the night was named the overall champion.

Teenager Amy Dyer, in her first lawn bowls season, won the Ladies Plate, with Denise Jackson as runner-up.

Sue Jones won the Non-Winners Trophy in a closely contested match against Jolene Andrews.

Geoff Chapman, paired with Mick Webb, triumphed in the Aussie Pairs, a new club competition this year.

Sara Nicholls, the 2024 Welsh Ladies Singles Champion and European gold medallist, paired with her long-term mentor, Jean Stancer, to win the Ladies Pairs Trophy.

In the club triples competition, John Vanlandewyck, Richard Chodecki, and Phil Latham made a remarkable comeback to win the title.

Mr Vanlandewyck also received a trophy for securing the highest number of points at club night.

The Dai Grove Memorial Cup was awarded to the team of Geoff Chapman, Deborah Mathews, and Mary Davies.
