Here is a round-up of the rugby results from Amman United and Cwmgors.
Amman United 8 - 20 Aberaeron
Amman United struggled to continue their momentum as they fell to a 20-8 defeat against Aberaeron in their Division 3 West clash at Cwmamman Park.
Aberaeron capitalised on a strong start and put Amman under pressure early on, with Amman’s lock Tom Watson receiving a yellow card in the opening minutes.
The visitors seized the advantage with an early try from wing Dyfrig Dafis, converted by Steff Rees.
Amman responded through a penalty by full-back Rhys Howells following a late tackle, bringing the score to 7-3.
The home side began to build momentum, with dynamic runs from flankers Rhydian Jones and Ieuan Phillips, as well as efforts from wing Tristan Morgan and centre Luc Rees.
Amman capitalised on an Aberaeron yellow card, executing a well-crafted try set up by Alun Lewis’s backhand pass to scrum-half Gavin Lewis in the corner.
Despite Amman’s renewed efforts, Aberaeron extended their lead with a penalty from Rees before halftime.
In the second half, Aberaeron’s Will James crossed the line for a try, followed by another score from Matthew Harries as the visitors maintained pressure.
Amman’s push was marred by a late-game red card for replacement Andrew Lacey, with Aberaeron also seeing a player sent off for a dangerous tackle.
Amman United now face a challenging away game against Haverfordwest next weekend.
Cwmgors 22 - 25 Seven Sisters
Cwmgors lost their unbeaten home record in a nail-biting 25-22 defeat to Seven Sisters, who clinched the game with a last-minute penalty at Parc y Werin in Division 4 West (Central).
Seven Sisters started strongly and nearly scored on their first real attack, only for Cwmgors to hold them up on the tryline.
Jordan Smith’s penalty attempt for Cwmgors bounced off the post, while Seven Sisters then made the breakthrough with two quick tries from Aled Hopkins and Connor Thomas, both converted by Antony Llewellyn.
Smith managed to slot a penalty to get Cwmgors on the scoreboard, but a third Seven Sisters try by Llewellyn left Cwmgors trailing 19-3.
Just before halftime, Owen Davies crossed the line for Cwmgors after a well-timed grubber kick and chase, reducing the deficit.
Llewellyn’s penalty early in the second half took Seven Sisters’ lead to 22-10, but Smith narrowed the gap with a massive penalty from inside his own half.
Smith’s boot kept Cwmgors within reach, adding three more penalties to level the scores at 22-22 in the final minutes.
However, a last-minute penalty for Seven Sisters saw Llewellyn convert, securing a narrow victory for the visitors.
Cwmgors will aim to bounce back in their upcoming away fixture against Rhigos.
