Saron Under-11s 2 Pontardawe Whites 1 Ponty got off to a flyer, scoring in the first two minutes.
This woke Saron up and a tough battle followed with both teams giving 100% and going close on a few occasions during the first half.
After 10 minutes of the second half, Grant broke up the wing and delivered a good ball which Sam made no mistake with to score.
The game appeared to be heading for Saron’s third draw in a row when Sam crossed a great ball in from the left and Grant headed in for the winner.
Saron Under-11s 3 Onllwyn 0 Saron went through to the next round after extra time, the teams goalless at the end of normal time.
If Rhys Morgan had had his shooting boots on he could have scored five goals before half time.
He was one on one with the away ’keeper time after time, but could not convert the chances. Ceri Morris was a rock in midfield and Latham Rees was outstanding at centre half.
In extra time Morgan found his touch at last, scoring twice. Nicholas Lacey hit the other to take Saron into the next round.
Man of the match was the outstanding Latham Rees.
Rhos Rangers1 Saron Under -12s 7 Corey opened Saron’s account with a scrappy goal by his standards. Then Iwan Easton finished off some great approach work for his first goal of the season before Rhos capitalised on a Saron mistake.
Corey then grabbed his second and Iwan followed suit shortly after.
Saron squandering chances until Scott managed to put one away at the back post, and he scored another soon after.
Iwan Norrie had the last say of the match with a great pick-up on half way and a searing run into the box, finished with a great shot.
Sunnybank Under-14s 1 Saron 5 Steff, Darren and Josh were solid in Saron’s midfield and did well to set-up Kieran Jones for his first goal. Kieran added his second with superb finish from an excellent pass from Connor. Sunnybank pulled a goal back, but Saron kept pressing and were rewarded when Connor scored a superb goal, lobbing the goalkeeper from long range. Kieran then completed his hat-trick with a good finish after good work by Sion. Kieran then added his fourth with another good finish from a corner. Saron next play Treborth in the cup. Saron Under-15s 1 Pontardawe Whites 4 Ponty took the early initiative, putting a lot of pressure on the Saron defence. They created a number of chances but Saron defended to a man.
Steffan Davies headed a goal-bound effort off the line and Rhys Evans and Daniel Ellison also made good blocks.
Pontardawe took the lead after twenty minutes, one of their midfield players reacting quicker than the Saron defenders to a cross ball to score from six yards.
Ponty went further ahead with a fine twenty-yard effort which gave Aled in goal no chance.
The Saron midfield of Rhys Cann, Gavin, Nat and Nathan worked hard but could not get forward quickly enough to aid the forwards.
Ten minutes into the second half Josh Cranfield made a booming clearance and Owain outstripped the Ponty defence to fire home.
This resulted in a period of pressure for Saron who threw everything forward looking for the equaliser. Good runs down the flanks from Nathan and Josh put Ponty under pressure, while Rhydian and Rhys Evans were in fine form in defence.
Ponty then scored via a breakaway goal to give them breathing space, and they scored at the death to seal the match. Aled Thomas was Saron’s man of the match.
