LOCAL MP Adam Price has spoken for the first time about how he became the victim of a street attack in Worcester at the weekend.
The 40-year-old Carmarthenshire East and Dinefwr MP was attending his parents’ 50th birthday celebrations when he was set upon by a group of youths.
He ended up receiving stitches to cuts in his face and suffered a black eye. Four people have been arrested as a result of the incident which happened at around 5pm on Saturday.
"I would like to thank everyone who has contacted my office expressing concern about the assault I endured at the weekend," said Mr Price.
"Obviously, I am shocked at what happened. It was a completely unprovoked attack.
I feel sad for my parents as this obviously cast a shadow over their Golden Wedding Anniversary dinner which I could not attend as I was in hospital receiving treatment.
"I am now recovering at home, and except for a few bruises and cuts that needed stitches, I'm fine."
West Mercia Police said inquiries were continuing.
