EARLIER this month the first of hopefully many charity boxing evenings was held at Cwmgors RFC.
The aim of the evening was to raise money for the Duchenne muscular dystrophy charity, Cwmgors boxing club juniors and Bryn Rovers Juniors. The event was witnessed by more than 200 people and raised over £5,000.
The organisers wish to thank Karl Launchbury, Steff Jones, Gary Gibala and Eifion Rogers for arranging the event, and also to Ian Lewis, Steff and Ronnie from the boxing club for their help and efforts.
“Our gratitude is also extended to Cwmgors Club and the committee, all individual sponsors, all fighters who bravely took part, the wonderful ring girls Emily Williams and Sarah Howells, Rhian Davies and Nina Patel for their efforts with the fundraising and also James Baxter and John ‘Grizz’ Evans for their efforts,” said Eifion Rogers.
“We would also like to thank raffle donors Geraint Evans and Ponty golfclub, Cerith Jones and Garnant golf club, Cheryl from Crib a Siswrn, Joy from Roksport and Cwmgors rugby club.”

“We look forward to the next event ‘Slugfest 2 No Retreat, No Surrender’ next year,” he added.
