LLANDEILO made it two in a row but only after a hard-fought game.
With Calsonic second in the division, Llandeilo knew they face a difficult challenge. The return of Simon Rees in goal and Simon Saddler to midfield aided Llandeilo’s game with the latter creating some good opportunities with football all over the park. Calsonic came close on a few occasions, but both teams failed to break the deadlock before the interval.
In the first fifteen minutes of the second half Llandeilo absorbed some heavy Calsonic pressure but the defence stood strong, with Alun, Huw, Beave and Keith Irish proving a match for the opposition forwards.
Llandeilo then started to control the game with some great football in midfield from Phil Morris and Simon Saddler. The homesters were able to deliver the balls down either wing and deliver crosses for Dainton and Swindells to cause some nervous moments for the Calsonic defence. With five minutes remaining, Simon Rees kicked an inch perfect goal kick down field which Swindells headed into the path of Keith Dainton.
Dainton drilled the ball past the Calsonic keeper into the top right corner of the goal. With now only minutes left Calsonic pushed forward but without success and the ref blew up.
Six points in the last two games have proved that Llandeilo’s improving fitness can be a match-winner as they begin to return to full strength.
Thanks to those supporters who braved the adverse weather conditions to cheer the team on and also to kit sponsors Sian and Andy of the Hen Vic.
