With the team bus failing to turn up, a last minute scramble to get to Porthcawl by car meant that Bryn’s pre-match preparations were thrown into disarray.
Unsurprisingly matters soon went from bad to worse as the homesters raced into a ten-point lead in as many minutes.
Two further breakaway tries followed as the stunned Greens only had a solitary penalty by scrum-half Dafydd Jones to cut the deficit to 3-24 at half time.
Although there were glimpses of promise the Seaweeds fourth try shortly after the break effectively sealed the contest as their lead increased 3-31.
Bryn however although down were certainly not out, and at last a fine three-quarter movement sweeping to the right saw winger Dafydd Moses cross the whitewash for a fine try.
From the restart another Porthcawl penalty goal meant that Bryn now trailed 8-34 but despite finally putting together some fine passages of play, time was fast running out.
Undaunted and with the home side visibly tiring, Bryn finally gave the travelling support something to cheer as replacement wing Daniel Rees glided over for the Greens second try. Dafydd Jones converted at 15-34 as Bryn once more went on the offensive.
Quick ruck ball transferred to the left at pace caught the homesters flat-footed and wing Daniel Rees was on hand once more to cross for his second five-pointer of the afternoon. With the final scoreline of 20-34 Bryn can have no complaints but at least some respectability was restored in the final quarter.
Next weekend Bryn return to domestic duties in an Amman Valley League derby away at Tycroes RFC.
